Guanajuato is located in the geographic center of Mexico about four hours northwest of Mexico City. It sits over 6,000 ft. high in the desert highlands near the continental divide. It is one of Mexico's most beautiful Spanish colonial cities with a population of 100,000. It was a silver mining center when the Spanish were here, with most of Mexico's silver coming from this area. Since Mexico's independence in which Guanajuato and nearby cities played a major role, it has become a tourist attraction not only for Mexicans but for people from around the world because of it's history and charm. There are twenty museums, twenty temples, fourteen parks, and four mines for you to visit and enjoy. there are also many restaurants to choose from.
