Don and Martha Roberts are pleased to welcome you to their home in Guanajuato and they trust that your experience with them will be so wonderful that you will feel
right at home, and return often. Don was born and educated in Albuquerque, N.M., and Martha was born and educated in Mexico. In 1967 Martha ventured to
Washington, DC and taught Spanish as a second language. Her students at the time were members of the Army, IRS, FSI, Peace Corps and private students as well.
Before retiring, Martha worked for the US Federal Courts for thirteen years. Also in Washington, DC, Don taught English as a second language and was the Assistant
Director for ELS Language Center. It was here where they first met, and they have been married ever since. They have three children and four grandchildren.
Together, they have owned and operated a boarding house for foreign students in the Washington DC area. They opened a language school at the YMCA and lived in
Caracas, Venezuela for two years, where their son was born. After selling that business, they lived in Mexico City for two years and returned to the Washington Metro
Area in 1976, when the peso devalued. Back in DC, they both worked, owned and operated an antique shop and an international jewelry business where their most
popular items were "Ear Kuffs" (TM) as well as their registered and patented Gold, Silver, Titanium, and Niobium fingernails very popular in the 80´s. Later, Martha
worked for the US Federal Courts in Washington, DC, and Don owned and operated an event video business until they retired to move to Guanajuato at the end of 2005.
Don is a CB and HAM radio enthusiast. Martha likes to knit, crochet, design jewelry, is a volunteer for AMIGOS DE LOS ANIMALES DE GUANAJUATO, A.C., and is a
gracious hostess to current foreign residents as well as all newcomers. They both enjoy hosting and have decided to open their home to visitors like you. We hope your
stay with them will be unforgettable.
THE RESIDENCE
Casa Roberts is an authentic family owned Bed and Breakfast in Guanajuato. It is beautifully nestled in San Javier, one of the two most exclusive residential areas in
Guanajuato. It was built by an Engineer and his Architect wife who lived there over 20 years. On the main floor, the house has a beautiful foyer, living/dining room with
fireplace, a fully equipped office and a full bath. The kitchen has a breakfast nook and a small terrace on the side. The laundry room is equipped with washer and dryer,
as well as iron and ironing board and there is a half bath.
Downstairs are three beautiful bedrooms, two full baths, sitting room-library, and a small patio, excellent for quiet time or meditation. In addition, it has one parking
space available, a small garden in the front, a terrace beside the kitchen, a balcony outside the living room, and a beautifully manicured and peaceful backyard just
outside each bedroom where you can spend quiet and relaxing evenings watching hummingbirds, listening to soothing music, and enjoying the peaceful waterfall from
the fountain. The residence contains all fine quality, brand new, beautiful furnishings, bedding includes five hundred count sheets, and the house was professionally
decorated and landscaped.
